A lot of public funds are going to be used by ministers, MPs and other officials purportedly attending Mr Barack Obama's inauguration as president of the United States. It is nothing more than a joyride at taxpayers' expense.

It is not too late to call off the unnecessary trip, especially at a time when the Government will be appealing to that same US and other nations for urgent aid to save 10 million Kenyans facing a famine.
